Baker has played Loki in several different projects since 2010, with “Marvel Rivals” marking the fifth time he’s voiced the role in a video game. For many fans, Troy Baker has become the definitive animated version of the character, much like the MCU’s Tom Hiddleston owns the character in live-action.
Milana Vayntrub – Squirrel Girl

Though many TV viewers no doubt recognize Milana Vayntrub as Lily, the AT&T commercial spokesperson, she’s also been connected to Marvel’s Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl for quite some time. Vayntrub was at one point cast in the live-action role of Squirrel Girl for an MCU television series, “New Warriors.” However, the show was cancelled before the pilot was ever officially aired, leaving Squirrel Girl out of action for a while. Fans reacted positively to leaked photos of Vayntrub in the Squirrel Girl costume, however, and Vayntrub has since returned to the role multiple times, including the audio series “Marvel’s Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show!” and the animated series “Marvel Rising.”

Vayntrub has naturally developed an attachment to Squirrel Girl over the years. As she told Behind The Voice, “I love being Doreen Green … She’s just like the most fun person to embody.” “Marvel Rivals” allows the actress to continue her ownership of the hero, even if it isn’t the live-action take she had originally envisioned. Outside of “Marvel Rivals,” gamers will be excited to know she also lent her voice to “God of War Ragnarok” (as Lúnda) and appeared in the critically acclaimed video game adaptation “Werewolves Within.”
Steve Blum – Wolverine & Venom

Playing both Wolverine and Venom in “Marvel Rivals,” we have anime and video game voiceover legend Steve Blum. With an anime resume including the ever-iconic role of Spike Spiegel in “Cowboy Bebop” and video game credits such as Brimstone in “Valorant” and Killer Croc in the “Batman: Arkham” series, Steve Blum is a prominent figure in nerd culture. With that in mind, it may not surprise you to learn that he’s voiced both Wolverine and Venom in the past.

Steve Blum began voicing Wolverine over two decades ago in “X-Men Legends” and has since reprised the role in several video games and animated projects. At this point, many fans and fellow voice actors consider Blum to be the definitive Wolverine voice actor. In contrast, “Marvel Rivals” marks only the third time that Blum has played Venom, with his last performance as Eddie Brock being in “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.” Fans have also responded positively to Blum’s take on Venom, with some feeling that he’s channeling a sinister energy reminiscent of his performance as Baraka in “Mortal Kombat.”
Abby Trott – Magik

Voicing Ilyana Rasputin, a.k.a. Magik, is Abby Trott, another prolific video game and anime voice actor. Abby Trott has worked on countless shows, including the English dubs for massive hits like “Hunter x Hunter” and “Dandadan.” Gamers may also be familiar with Trott’s singing voice, as she recorded the main theme for the English language release of Nintendo’s “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.”

“Marvel Rivals” isn’t Trott’s first gig involving Marvel’s mutants, either: In 2024, she voiced another sword-wielding Marvel character, appearing as Spiral in the critically acclaimed “X-Men ’97.” Trott seems to be a particularly big fan of her “Rivals” character (and her demonic side), expressing considerable excitement for the opportunity to voice the character on her Instagram. “Such a cool character, and such an honor to be part of this phenomenal cast!” the voice actress posted, “Behold the power of DARKCHYLDE.”
Mara Junot – Storm

Another veteran of Marvel video games, Mara Junot provides her voice for the mutant Storm in “Marvel Rivals.” Fans may recognize Junot’s voice from hit video game adaptations “Arcane” and “Pokemon Horizons,” as well as games like “Mortal Kombat 11,” “League of Legends,” and “World of Warcraft.” Junot previously played Storm in “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order” and “Marvel’s Midnight Suns.” In the latter, Storm took the spotlight in the appropriately named “Blood Storm” DLC.

Mara Junot told fans on social media that playing Storm “has been a lifelong dream” of hers, and it’s clear that she’s giving the role her all. Junot may have only voiced Storm a handful of times, but fans have completely fallen in love with her take on the character, especially in “Marvel Rivals.”
Travis Willingham – Thor and Doctor Doom

Travis Willingham isn’t limited to just one character: He voices both Thor and Doctor Doom in “Marvel Rivals.” Outside of his prolific voice-acting career, many fans of “Dungeons & Dragons” are familiar with Willingham through his work as a cast member of the popular “D&D” podcast, “Critical Role” (and its animated adaptation, “The Legend of Vox Machina”).

Though this is Willingham’s first turn as Doom, he’s played “Thor” many times in both animation and video games. Interestingly enough, Willingham also dipped into the MCU’s live-action “Thor” franchise by portraying some of the 2011 film’s Frost Giants via mocap and voiceover work. Despite his close association to the character, it took a while for Willingham to completely connect with the God of Thunder. “It’s funny, Thor was really one of the least relatable characters to me,” Willingham explained in an interview with Nerdist. “Thor, as I’ve been able to play him more, is far more vulnerable … and interesting than I initially thought.” Now, Thor’s a character Willingham is happy to return to again and again.

Laura Bailey – Black Widow

Playing Black Widow, we have voice acting superstar Laura Bailey, another member of the “Critical Role” crew and the real-life partner to Travis Willingham (a.k.a. Thor). Bailey may have one of the most recognizable voices in the industry, having won awards for her performances in “The Last of Us Part 2” (as Abby) “Marvel’s Spider-Man” (as Mary Jane), and several other games and anime. In addition to “Marvel Rivals,” Laura Bailey has also voiced Black Widow in a number of Marvel projects over the years.

Laura Bailey has often discussed her fondness of the Marvel Universe and its characters, telling Red Carpet Report that she sees a lot of similarities between herself and Black Widow: “We both kick a lot of butt.
