‘Good Morning America’ Ignores Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ Suspension Rumors, Says They “Have the Day Off”

Good Morning America anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were absent from today’s GMA3 broadcast following their cheating scandal and rumored suspension.

Viewers tuning in to see the tabloids’ new favorite duo were disappointed to see not Holmes and Robach behind the desk, but replacement anchors Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez. The two appeared alongside Dr. Jennifer Ashton, who has hosted GMA3 with Holmes and Robach since September 2020.

Refusing to address the elephant in the room, Ramos began the show by stating, “Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have the day off,” and swiftly moving on to the news of the day. However, the missing anchors’ names were still included in the show’s opening sequence, which features the narration, “Now, from Times Square, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes with Dr. Jen Ashton and What You Need to Know.”

After Holmes and Robach’s alleged relationship was exposed, both parties disappeared from social media and Robach was missing from the Nov. 30 broadcast. However, the following day, both hosts co-anchored the talk show without mention of the controversy.

Earlier today, TMZ released a report that said the two hosts have been pulled from the show following their alleged affair. The outlet’s source stated that Ramos and Benitez would be replacing the Holmes and Robach starting today, adding that the length of their GMA3 stint has not yet been disclosed.

Decider has reached out to ABC for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.

Holmes and Robach’s alleged relationship, which was first reported by The Daily Mail Nov. 30, was called an “internal and external distraction” by ABC News President Kim Godwin — who was said to know of the relationship — in a call with executives this morning.

In the call, Godwin said, “I want to say that while that relationship is not a violation of company policy, I have really taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization,” per TMZ.

She added, “We can’t operate with gossip, and speculation and rumors. We need to stay focused on the work.”

Holmes and Robach’s future on the show is supposedly undetermined; right now, all we know is that subsequent steps are to be “sorted out” by executives.
