They create a robot with an artificial brain made from human stem cells – Mystery Science

Chinese scientists have developed a robot with a laboratory-grown artificial brain that can learn and perform various tasks.

The technology called “brain on a chip” or brain on a chipdeveloped by researchers at Tianjin University and Southern University of Science and Technology, combines a brain organoid (a tissue derived from human stem cells) with a neural interface chip to power the robot and teach it to avoid obstacles and grab objects.

This type of technology relies on brain-computer interfaces, which combine the brain’s electrical signals with external computing power.

“Brain-computer interface on a chip is a technology that uses an in vitro cultured “brain” (such as cerebral organoids) coupled with an electrode chip to achieve information interaction with the outside world through the coding, decoding and stimulation feedback. said he Professor Ming Dongvice president of Tianjin University.

According to the researchers, unlike traditional robots, which rely on pre-programmed instructions, this new robot with human brain use your brain implant to learn and adapt to your environment.

Since the robot cannot see the same thing as a human, the brain interprets the world using electrical signals provided by the chip. In theory, you could practice fully navigating a simulated environment, but understanding the real world is more complicated.

For researchers, this advance could lead to computer development similar to that of the human brain, opening up new possibilities in robotics and artificial intelligence and thus allowing robots to interact with their environment and perform complex tasks.
