Character creation in sci-fi games has never looked so scientific.
Starfield will be one of Bethesda’s most exciting installments, after The Elder Scrolls saga (with its first title in 1994). After its recent announcement of the launch for Xbox in November 2022, it ended up being delayed and may be available until 2023. The good news is that the popularity of this game will surely spread among the gaming community and will open horizons towards other consoles. . What we saw at the Xbox & Bethesda 2022 Showcase about its gameplay is quite interesting and promising.
Secondly, in this promotional video of Starfield the customization systems of the game were shownwhich caught the attention of fans, because it will be one of the strengths of Bethesda’s delivery.
Character customization for Bethesda titles
After an extensive career with RPGs, such as The Elder Scrolls saga, his fifth title (in conjunction with Fallout 76) stood out for one simple reason: the extensive character creation. In other words, the game offers multiple options to modify the facial features, skin tones and hair of your characters. And everything seems to indicate that Bethesda will be guided by the model of its previous projects for Starfield.
In fact, it is possible that it will not only keep this great detail, but improve it, since the samples of the game show elements for its very interesting characters. Almost as much as if they had pulled the skins straight from a genetics textbook and then fused them together with an extensive crafting system with great graphics.
You can watch the Starfield trailer on Bethesda’s official YouTube account below:
The exchange system in Starfield seems to be inspired by the principles of DNA
Very much in the style of the developer company’s games, Starfield seems to go a step further, although, of course, we won’t be able to know all the details until we play it. But what we have seen so far, the science fiction overtones of the game do not go unnoticed by its fans, so it would make a lot of sense that Bethesda has become more involved with scientific issues. And maybe there we have the answer to the process of creating characters in a space environment. Where it would not be surprising that the inspiration in the DNA chains is one of the details that distinguishes it from other games of its genre.
Also, when creating your own character, you will be surrounded by what appears to be a laboratory, as we can see in the trailer. And, taking the past of Bethesda titles as a reference, Starfield will have a large number of options to choose the characteristics of your characters. The curious thing about all this is that the design is basing on a real process to study the structure of DNA.
In order to showcase these very interesting elements in Starfield, a post on the game’s subreddit compares the character creation process with actual DNA samples. In fact, this technique is called “gel electrophoresis”, so that it separates and organizes all the parts that make up the DNA and facilitates its study. And finally, the image that results from the process shows the well-known ladder with which we associate the term, thus allowing you to see the “nodes of a slider”.
On the other hand, it’s likely that sliders aren’t the only genetics Bethesda has picked up for its characters, as the creator displays this caption: “biometric customizations can be changed later by visiting a genetics center.”
While we don’t know exactly what other aspects of real science are involved in Starfield, it’s entirely possible we’ll be able to find out when the game is released. Bethesda has not positioned itself, however, the results of this mixture of science fiction and video games is incredible.
Thanks to the trailer, the expectations placed on the game have increased among fans. However, it remains to wait the official release date which is scheduled for 2023 for Xbox and PC.
Here we leave you the official description of Starfiel published by Bethesda:
