If you are a fan of classic anime, this is for you.
If you are a fan of Ranma ½ or Inuyasha, this ad may catch your attention.well the official Web site for the new anime of Rumiko Takahashi’s Urusei Yatsura manga published a first promotional video with animated images showing the quality of this great product, in addition to announcing two more cast members, more staff members and the October premiere of this anime.
The video starts by remembering some classic anime scenes, you may even have grown up with some of them (in the many repetitions that this anime series had on public television). Even if you’ve never heard the name of Urusei Yatsura, you probably remember other series by the great mangaka Rumiko Takahashi.
Rumiko Takahashi was the creator of Ranma ½ and Inuyasha, but its popularity in Japan exploded much earlier with Urusei Yatsura, so it’s no surprise that there is a remake of this series that will air on the Noitamina programming block on Fuji TV and other channels to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the publisher of the Shogakukan manga. There is still no official announcement of its arrival in the West, either through Crunchyroll or other streaming services.
To commemorate this great work, publishers such as Viz Media began publishing the manga in 2-in-1 omnibus editions in the spring of 2019 with new translations. The synopsis of the series is as follows:
Revisit the acclaimed romantic comedy about an unlucky human boy who meets a beautiful alien princess from space in this oversized edition with all-new translations and new cover designs. In the series, Ataru Moroboshi’s supernatural encounters with the female gender they begin when he is chosen to play tag with an alien princess named Lum who invades earth in her UFO. Ataru has ten days to blow Lum’s horns or aliens will take over the earth! It turns out that the game of tag is just the beginning of Ataru’s troubles, as he continues to attract strange encounters with otherworldly beings like the beautiful snow spirit Oyuki and the sexy raven goblin princess Kurama!
As Ranma ½ or Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura ran in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 1978 to 1987.. The manga inspired a television anime series that ran from 1981 to 1986, several anime films, and an original video anime (OVA) series. AnimEigo released most of the previous anime on home video, except for the Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer movie which was released by Central Park Media. After the licenses from these companies expired, Discotek Media has been re-releasing the films.
