Last year several indies were released that, without making too much noise, managed to become authentic gems, among which is undoubtedly Unpacking, the brilliant work of Witch Beam and Humble Games that has been confirmed to reach PS4 and PS5 in just a few days, specifically the May 10.
After passing through Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, there were only Sony consoles left to take over this title with a very simple proposal, but it is precisely there where its greatness lies. The objective that it proposes is to carry out a move based on placing all kinds of objects around the rooms of the house.
With most relaxing gameplay, there is no fixed way forward. Each one will be able to place stuffed animals, books, shoes, backpacks, controls and much more wherever they want, but everything with a certain meaning, as if it were our own home. So each one can create the space that he prefers while he gradually unpacks the boxes.
But if there is something that also makes unpacking it is the fact of how, without dialogue, he is able to tell us a magnificent story throughout eight moves. A plot that is good enough that it has precisely served to win the award for this section at this year’s BAFTA Game Awards.
In the end the players will also find items that will remind them of their childhood and that is also part of the magic of unpacking, something that PS4 and PS5 users will be able to discover starting next week.
