Profits from two weeks of Fortnite will be donated to Ukraine
Epic Games shared the following message on social media yesterday: “Epic allocate all Fortnite earnings for the period between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022 as humanitarian aid for those affected by the war in Ukraine”. In addition, from the company they also added: “In order to contribute to the cause and so that the people of Ukraine receive more help, Xbox will also allocate its net profits obtained from Fortnite during this period”.
There are several humanitarian aid organizations that Epic is helping, including Direct Relief, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) or the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). All of them work on the ground and provide emergency aid, such as health and legal assistance, food, clean water, essential supplies and shelter.
All real money earnings from Fortnite for the period between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022 will be donated to humanitarian aid organizations.
As reported by Epic, the help will be sent as quickly as possible and during the following weeks the list of support organizations will continue to be expanded. As an informative fact, these are all the purchases with real money that contribute to the sending of humanitarian aid:
- Turkey packs.
- Fortnite Club.
- Battle Pass giveaways and cosmetic packs like the Voiddweller pack.
- Purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Buck cards made in physical stores (if redeemed during this time).
It is worth mentioning that the use of paVos in Fortnite will not be included since they are not purchases with real money. If you have more doubts about it, you can take a look at this official article on the Fortnite website. A few weeks ago, at the beginning of March, Epic Games already added its support to Ukraine by stopping trade with Russia in its games.
