‘The View’: Mark Hamill Reveals Why He’d Rather Mock “Malignant Narcissist” Trump Than Get Angry

Mark Hamill is taking the high road. On this morning’s episode of The View, the actor revealed why he prefers to use humor to air his grievances with President Donald Trump instead of anger.

Hamill visited the Hot Topics table to promote his new movie The Life of Chuck, though co-host Sunny Hostin began the interview by asking for his thoughts on the White House’s “May the 4th” post, which featured an AI-generated image of Trump as a Star Wars character.

“Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy,” the post was captioned. “You’re not the Rebellion — you’re the Empire.”

Hamill, who famously played Luke Skywalker in six of the franchise’s films, took his opportunity to poke fun at Trump’s lack of Star Wars knowledge. Anyone who has seen the movies knows that “Sith Lords” are known for using red lightsabers, while Jedis carry green lightsabers — and in the photo that was posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), he was holding a red one.

“Well, first of all, I thought, ‘If he’s a Star Wars fan, he should know he should be holding a green lightsaber. Not an evil red lightsaber,’” Hammil said. “So my comment was, ‘Proof positive, he’s full of Sith.’”

Hamill has never shied away from dragging Trump on social media, though he said he’s often careful about his wording.

“You gotta do it with humor, I think,” he said. “I don’t get angry and I don’t drop F-bombs. I know I have a lot of kids that follow me. Have fun with it. Mock him. That’s the kryptonite to malignant narcissists.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
